In 1969 Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Janis Joplin and many others played the legendary Woodstock Festival. No one since has managed to reincarnate the feeling of nature, soul nd rock music, that was on that magical field north of New York, since.

Until now.

Children of the Sün look like hippies, sound like hippies and they bring a wooden sun on stage. The sunshine comes by itself.

This year the band won the national finals of the Swedish music competition ‘Livekarusellen’. During the summer they played at events such as ‘Putte i parken’, Arvika hamnfest’ and ‘Karl Oskarsdagarna’.

The Riven

The Riven is an electrifying powerhouse. Envision Heavy Blues Rock, focusing on big choruses and mean riffs. Progressive, psychedelic and classical musical elements standing side by side with a soulful and vigorous voice. Each song, a chapter, revealing fates and tales from the past and the future. The force is strong in The Riven. Merging influences from a variety of genres. The Riven emerges as a Pure Rock element.

“Make no mistake this band are going to blow up in stratospheric proportions” – The Sludgelord

In 2018 The Riven went to Madrid, not to spend time under the Spanish sun but rather curled up in the valved cellar studio at Holy Cuervo Studios. In ten days they powered through the record’s nine songs producing an album that in the words of the drummer Olof Axegärd  “Is loud, is rock, is soul, and prog, it has it all!”. The Riven will be releasing their highly anticipated first full length with The Sign Records in the spring of 2019. Produced by Ola Ersfjord (Lucifer, Primordial, Dead Lord) the album manages to merge the diverse influences of its four members into a solid unit of Rock and Roll, that will leave no one oblivious.

Somewhere in West London, in the same neighborhood as many 60s British Rock bands like The Who and The Rolling Stones came alive, singer Totta Ekebergh, guitarist Arnau Diaz and bass player Max Ternebring were living together in a typical suburban house. As modern vagabonds of the western world, their love of rock put them together under the same roof where music was flowing out of every room. After an alcohol fueled songwriting session between Diaz and Ternebring they decided they needed to start a band together with Ekebergh on vocals. With this sweet trio on the move they needed a drummer and for that they recruited Olof Axegärd. “Olof was the only one that would party with us and be able to play loud grooves in the morning, so we went with him” – Max Ternebring

Throwing all their different musical influences together, they ended up with an electrically charged cauldron that was too hot to touch! “It was like I entered a whole new dimension and melodies were being drawn out of me!” says Totta. Díaz brings the frantic riffs and the bluesy licks, Ekebergh gives you soul and hooks,  thunder circulates as Ternebring stirs up melodic bass lines harmonising simultaneously with guitar and drums while Axegärd brings the NWOBHM drive and the proggy touch to the mix.

During the cold and foggy days of November 2016 The Riven made their way to the studio in East London where they would immortalise their first EP ‘Blackbird’. As Angry Metal Guy puts it: “The five tracks on Blackbird are short, snappy, and more catchy than airborne ebola”. Blackbird is the band’s first milestone that showcases their talent as songwriters as well as their proficiency behind their instruments. The EP presents a solid mix of the bands wide range of influences. You’ll find reminiscents of classics like Thin Lizzy, Grand Funk Railroad or early Rush but you’ll also relate it to more contemporary sounds like Rival Sons or Kadavar.

“The Riven have made a compelling statement with Blackbird, and there’s no reason for them to be any less than the top of the heap in short order” – Invisible Oranges. Getting excellent reviews from the most influential retro-rock and stoner websites during the summer of 2017 The Riven let ‘Blackbird’ fly on the road. Their tour schedule took them around the UK, Finland and Sweden, opening for a diverse range of acts like the prog metal american legends Fates Warning, the british stoners Elephant Tree and the swedish garage rockers The Dahmers.

In the fall of 2017, The Riven decided they’ve had enough fish n’ chips for a lifetime and to try some swedish meatballs instead. Although they’ll probably never succeed in putting together IKEA furniture they had something else in mind. Now being in the same country as bands such as Graveyard and Horisont The Riven has found the perfect niche for their music. “Coming from Barcelona I must say it does get a bit cold over here however, it’s a great excuse to spend all the time playing music and drinking over-expensive beer!” – Arnau Diaz

Heavy Feather

Heavy Feather takes it back to the roots on their debut album Débris & Rubble. It is a raw, real and heavy riff-based rock. The band is influenced by the greats of the 70’s – such as Free, Cream and Lynyrd Skynyrd – and have been able to create their own style. It’s an individual sound and a whole new way to deliver really heavy and exceptional rock. Their high ambition has pushed them forward, making them proud of the roughness they perform on stage. The albums is set for release the 5th of April on The Sign Records.
Four heavily talented musicians have after many years of separate experiences decided to come together and create something new. The members have played with bands and artists as Siena Root, Lista Lystam Family Band, Rolf Wikström, Stacie Collins and Mårran. They all agree that the organic roots rock deserves a greater attention on the world’s rock scene today. Together they have found a sound that they have renewed in an exceptional way – and from that they created something completely own and unique.
A collaboration between these four talented musicians was inevitable, and has resulted in something new: with the raw details and authenticity, they produce exciting mergers into the world of rock. Airy riffs are packaged in a heavy sound – and in contrast, Heavy Feather delivers music leaving the listener in desire for more.

Lightning on the horizon…

On the 7th of April 2017, Demon Head’s new album THUNDER ON THE FIELDS will be released through The Sign Records. The songs were recorded by the Copenhagen band onto 16-track tape, in an isolated cabin where they locked themselves in for weeks in the winter of 2016.

Like its well-received predecessor Ride The Wilderness, the fruit of their communal work is powerfully crafted from start to finish. While the sound stays true to the sinister atmosphere of the debut album, the music has evolved to the next logical step: darker, more tight-knitted, and more diverse. Demon Head is not about trends or imitation. It is about the burning love for music. While in part an homage to the first heavy music, the songs have their own voice. The attitude is of originality and urgency rather than pretense.

Since the beginning, the band has relentlessly travelled on the road and off the beaten path, playing loud, wild concerts with bands from many genres and scenes. In the same way, the influences on THUNDER ON THE FIELDS are hard to pinpoint; many have experienced that nothing sounds quite like the doom-tinged heavy rock of Demon Head, while it retains a strange familiarity of haunting melodies that don’t seem to want to escape the listeners cranium. Comparison is always difficult and limiting, but you might get an idea of the direction if you imagine if the tour bus of Judas Priest had crashed into a whiskey bar where The Doors and Neil Young throw dice with the devil, while The Stooges cover Big Mama Thornton on the decrepit corner stage.

Vinyl, CD, and digital versions will be available worldwide, courtesy of The Sign Records. Cassette tapes will be released through Caligari Records.

MaidaVale is a rock band that met and formed in Fårösund on Gotland, Sweden, in 2012 at “Ella Music Education”. On the island located in the Baltic Sea, members Sofia Ström, Linn Johannesson, Matilda Roth och Johanna Hansson laid down the foundation of the heavy and psychedelic band and realized they all shared the same vision.

Once the band members had graduated they wanted to keep making music together and left Gotland to settle down in Stockholm. In Sweden’s capital MaidaVale regrouped and continued on the musical journey they had started a year prior. The members began to write new material, spent countless of hours in the rehearsal space and worked their way up on the Stockholm club-/rock scene.

With influences ranging over decades, MaidaVale have created a sound based in the late 60’s/early 70’s music scene. With a modern take on blues rock the band have captured many audiences with their heavy and psychedelic vibes, and developed into a highly acclaimed live act with the ability to spellbind and enthrall audiences.

As 2015 came to an end the band had gathered substantial live experience after having played at clubs and festivals nationwide. Some of the most notable appearances made at Sweden Rock Festival, Umeå Open and Krökbacken Festival. During the end of 2015, MaidaVale first recorded a live session and later on their debut LP at Studio Underjord. As 2016 begins MaidaVale is once again set out for the live stages in Sweden and abroad with their debut album Tales of the Wicked West being released on The Sign Records in May 2016.

Ill Wicker

Gothenburg based Ill Wicker declares with their second album ” Untamed” that prog-rock is still vital. During dark gatherings a charming and seductive tale of the “Untamed” is told. The seven chapter story folds out in a place were the rules set up for acoustic folk is not applied. The circle of six that is Ill Wicker have extended their sound and they are stretching out their arms around a larger universe vibrating of beauty, demonic desperation and life.

Ill Wickers nature is tastefully-composed stories of words and music here mixed up with strophic  ballads that could have been, and sometimes are, taken out of the traditional mold. Between ritualistic percussion and the driven violin is a choir of harsh harmonies, strings and organ emerged as by an old barrel organ. Untamed is a poetic and yelping liberation from the system´s norms viewed through the kaleidoscope.

The album was recorded in legendary Silence studio in Koppom that have given the birth to albums from artist like Träd, Gräs och Stenar, Kebnekajse, Union Carbide and Motorpsycho. Silence Studio, is´s surroundings and the history got an enormous amount of connections to Ill Wickers music on several levels.

Given that their name is so self-consciously draws from what retrospective historical views have come to term Acid Folk, it’d be easy to assume that Ill Wicker must be studied, unoriginal and unduly reverent. In reality, though, nothing could be further from the truth. Whether it’s because of the relative geographical isolation of their base, their semi-communal approach to living, their youth or their roots in traditional Swedish folk music, the fact is this remarkable six-piece from Gothenburg burn with such fire and intensity that it’s almost as if they stumbled upon their own dark forest magic in a hermetically sealed universe parallel to that in which Comus and the Incredible String Band once existed – as if two people in two different places discovered electricity via two different routes. Yes, that good…..” -Hugh Dellar, Shindig!-Magazine

Wheel in the Sky infront of some kind of metal sculpture, I guess.FACEBOOK | SPOTIFY | DEEZER | TIDAL | YOUTUBE

Wheel In The Sky are heading for the night. After a one night stand in a damp basement in the spring of 2014 the urge to create something grand was born. Wet, hot and sticky summer nights in the same basement resulted in the debut album called “Heading For The Night”. Eight tracks of pure rock energy combined with the fury and drug-induced psychosis of sixties garage. Spiced with the anger of punk, the haunting sadness of post-rock and the epic sounds of seventies classic rock.

Wheel In The Sky tells stories. Each song contains echoes of the past as well as visions of the future. “Heading For The Night” takes you on a journey. You will visit the smallest crevices of your mind and you will ride the vast freeways of space. You will encounter murder, religion, madness, sorrow and hate.
